About Dinosaur Footprints

Estimated to be between 150 – 185 million years old, these dinosaur footprints can be admired in the Etjo sandstone in the Kalkveld region- near the centre of Namibia. The footprints are present in two sets of tracks; the first one is that of a smaller Syntarsus, known to be a 3-metre-long pack hunter with footprints stretching 12 metres. The second set of tracks is a short distance away and is that of a Ceratosaurus, which is a 6-metre-long hunter. These footprints were proclaimed as a national monument on 01 August 1951.
