About Inhambane
Situated in the glittering Inhambane Bay, on the southern coast of Mozambique, the charming town of Inhambane serves as the capital of the eponymous province. This quaint seaside town is known for its wide, almost land-locked bay and its beautiful but crumbling Portuguese architecture. Points of interest include the vibrant local market and the nearly two-century-old Cathedral of our Lady of Concepti. Inhambane is the gateway to the popular beach destinations of Barra, Tofu and Guinjata Bay, which offer excellent snorkelling, diving and fishing. Visitors can jump on an excursion to snorkel with majestic whale sharks, take a dhow across the bay for lunch in Maxixe, and find a local tailor to make an original outfit out of some colourful Mozambican fabric.
