About Fort São Sebastião
Located at the northern end of Stone Town on the Island of Mozambique, Fort São Sebastião was built in 1558 by the Potuguese and saw the trading of slaves, spices and gold. It is the oldest complete fort still standing in sub-Saharan Africa and it took about 50 years to complete.
