Caverne Patate

Caverne Patate, located on the coral plains in the southwest of Rodrigues Island, is the island’s most famous cave and a must‑see attraction. At this site, visitors can explore a tunnel stretching over 1,000 metres, illuminated by torchlight to reveal striking stalactites, stalagmites, and natural rock sculptures. Activities include guided tours through the cavern, interpreting the imaginative shapes of the formations, and admiring the colourful vault details. Notably, Caverne Patate is the most visited cave in Rodrigues, accessible four times daily, with stone stairways built for easier entry, it is a natural wonder and a cultural highlight.
