About Underwater Waterfall

The Underwater Waterfall in Mauritius is a spectacular optical illusion caused by sand and silt moving down an underwater cliff and dropping down thousands of metres. Because of the fact that Mauritius is situated on a giant plateau, the angle of the island causes the displacement of sand on the shore when the waves beat upon it and the motion causes the sand and silt to drop off, creating the illusion of an underwater waterfall.
