About Likoma Cathedral
Completed in 1911, St. Peter’s Cathedral on Likoma Island is an impressive Anglican structure, said to be the same size as Winchester Cathedral. Constructed with native granite and imported materials, it is the third-largest cathedral in Central Africa. Dedicated to Saint Peter, the cathedral features stunning stained-glass windows, intricate stonework, and grand scale. It serves as the seat of the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi. Visitors can tour the cathedral, climb the tower for breathtaking views, and experience vibrant Sunday services with beautiful choir music. The cathedral is located less than 500 metres from the ferry terminal.
