Specialist Guide Victoria Falls [Mark Gerathy]

Born in Ndola, Zambia in 1964 where his father was stationed as a Major in the British army. He grew up in Lusaka and then his family moved to Harare, Zimbabwe in 1972 where he attended St. George’s College. Being the product of a Jesuit education Mark has a wide and varied interest in the world around him and has many fascinating insights into Africa, the continent of his birth. He has traveled widely in Southern Africa as well as having spent time in Kenya and Congo. He has lived in Victoria Falls for 15 years and in that time has worked in every facet of the tourism industry. In recent years Mark has focused on guiding Private Groups in Zambia and Zimbabwe. In 2003 he married into a prominent Zimbabwean family that settled in the country in 1902 and this sparked an interest in Africa’s early history especially the “Scramble for Africa”. Mark is a passionate storyteller with piercing insight and a great sense of humour. He has worked in the past with Micato Safaris as well as Alumni groups from Duke, Yale and Cornell Universities.
