About Northern Farm
A mere 10 minute drive from the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg sees you at Northern Farm. It is a working cattle farm of some 2500ha. Set in a nature reserve and with views across farmland to the Magaliesburg mountains it offers a variety of scenery. The Jukskei river forms the boundary to the farm which boasts a fantastic mixture of single track suitable for beginners through to the technically advanced, as well as farm tracks for a more sedate day out. As a nature reserve it is blessed with an array of bird life, even the rare African Fish Eagle has a home here. If you are lucky enough you may spot Black Back Jackal, Porcupine and Vervet Monkeys.
It is also home to the Diepsloot Mountain Bike Academy. Founded by Simon Nash and now being driven by Andre Ross, the Academy does incredible work with children from the surrounding settlements. In a short period of time the Academy has seen one young man sign for a professional mountain bike team and a young lady be selected to represent South Africa at the junior Olympics. Every weekend many children arrive to be fed, educated and experience the joy of riding a bike.
