Batis Birding Safaris Gray’s Lark & Coastal Wetlands Birding

Swakopmund, Namibia

About Batis Birding Safaris Gray’s Lark & Coastal Wetlands Birding

This birding excursion takes visitors north of Swakopmund to the quartzite gravel plains in search of the arid-adapted and cryptic Gray’s lark. Other target species include the pale coloured coastal form of Tractrac chats, red-capped larks, and Rufous-eared warblers. After the gravel plains, the excursion moves to the wetlands near the Swakopmund salt works. The wetlands are home to many species, including flamingoes and African oystercatchers. The final stop is at a small wetland in the Swakop River where Kittlitz’s plovers are fairly common.
