About African Bush Bird Sossusvlei Classic Flight
The Sossusvlei Classic Flight is the most popular scenic flight offered by African Bush Bird Tours. The flight lasts about two-and-a-quarter hours. The light aircraft departs from Swakopmund and flies over the Namib Desert, past the Walvis Bay airport to the Kuisebriver from where it continues at a low level along the river on to the Desert Ecological Research Unit at Gobabeb.
From here, the flight passes over Tsondabvlei, the only known breeding area of the Lappet-Faced Vulture in southern Namibia, and the remains of three old diamond camps in the Diamond Restricted Area. Guests will also fly over colonies of Cape Fur seals, two shipwrecks along the coast, Sandwich Harbour, a wetland of international importance, and Namibia's coastal salt mines, south of Walvis Bay. Finally, midway between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, the flight passes over the Langstrand Holiday Resort and the Dolphin Park Recreation Resort on its way back to Swakopmund.
