About African Bush Bird Opuwo/Ovahimba Excursion
The Opowu/Ovahimba Excursion offered by African Bush Bird Tours is a day trip in a light aircraft that departs from Swakopmund early in the morning and commences with a low altitude scenic flight past the Brandberg, over Damaraland and Kaokoland to Opuwo.
In Opuwo, accompanied by a guide and translator, guests will be driven to an Ovahimba village where they will spend the morning with the Ovahimbas in their ‘kraal’. Lunch will be served at the Opuwo Country Lodge after which the flight continues along the Uniab Riverbed in search for the desert elephants, rhinos, giraffes, mountain zebras and other game.
After this, guests will be flown along the treacherous Skeleton Coast past Torra Bay, Palgrave point, and Toscanini to Cape Cross seal reserve from where it will continue along the coast, passing Henties Bay and the salt works north of Swakopmund on its way back to Swakopmund.
