We Kebi Safari Lodge Southern White Rhino Project

Many years ago, We Kebi made a remarkable discovery on the neighbouring farm Hammerstein. They found San Bushman rock art on a rock face not far from the homestead. These paintings may be thousands of years old and are a true archaeological gem. Besides their age and the fact that the ancient people were capable of making pigments which still last today, there is another mystery from them, in that they clearly depict rhinos, which must have occurred in the valley naturally. Thus they started the long process of re-establishing these magnificent beasts in the South of Namibia. Visitors can see these incredible gentle giants becoming rarer and rarer daily. The rhino excursion is usually combined with the nature drive, which lasts about three hours, either early morning or late afternoon.
