About Dimbangombe Safari Lodge
Set within a 3,000 hectare ranch, about 40 km from the majesty of the Victoria Falls, Dimbangombe Safari Lodge offers guests a truly unique experience, entirely off the typical Tourist trail. It shares it’s spectacular setting with the Africa Centre for Holistic Management.
Holistic Management, which was developed by Zimbabwean-born ecologist Allan Savory, in essence, combines livestock into large herds to mimic the behaviour of the wild herds that freely roamed the African bush-veld in days of old. Planned grazing, harnesses the power of their hooves to break up hard ground, allowing air and water to penetrate, trampling down old grass so the soil is covered and eludes the drying effects of sun and wind. Dung and urine help enrich the hoof-prepared soil, so grasses grow thick and tall.
Dimbangombe offers a rare Eco-tourism setting, with wild herds of elephant, buffalo and sable, foraging together with livestock. Various predators including lion, leopard and hyena also share this landscape, providing a true bush experience. Birding enthusiasts will be enthralled at the variety of resident and visiting birdlife. The Lodge is situated in the middle of this wild bush, with hills, rivers, forests and grassland as a back-drop to our affordable fully catered accommodation. Conference facilities are in place with a host of activities and tours available.
