Gonarezhou Walking Safaris

If one is looking for an active wilderness walking adventure, in a remote and spectacularly beautiful area unspoiled by mass tourism then you have come to the right place as one will need to search far and wide to find anywhere that will come close to matching a multi-day walking safari with Gonarezhou Bushcamps in Gonarezhou National Park.

Having been visiting Gonarezhou since 1993 and operating in the park since 2007, we have walked hundreds of kilometres throughout this vast wilderness and recced routes that’ll take you through some of the most breathtaking scenery to be found anywhere on the continent.

We’ll walk you down elephant trails wide enough to mountain bike along and onto the edge of cliffs that’ll give you glimpses into tomorrow (well, almost); we’ll show you worn down rubbing posts near remote pans and give you privileged sneak previews into secret worlds; we’ll take you along migration routes that have been in existence for eons; and camp you under the boughs of ancient trees whose limbs have provided shelter to generations of pachyderms.

We’ll take you far enough off the beaten track to truly appreciate pristine, raw wilderness yet throughout your adventure you’ll have a few little luxuries here to help give some perspective into what’s really important in life. We’ll give you freshly prepared wholesome food and a comfortable bed to rest your head for the night. Owing to the nature of our walking safaris typically covering quite a bit of ground and thus having the camp move on a daily basis, we use a lightweight ‘fly camp’ for our multi-day walking safaris.

Our fly camp uses high-tech gauze netted dome tents, which can accommodate two people. The tight mesh is green which means at night they’re virtually transparent giving one front row seats into the very centre of the cosmos. Rather than being weighed down by heavy backpacks, to maximise guests’ enjoyment we arrange for the camp to be taken ahead and geocached at a pre-arranged gps locstat whilst we walk between camps with a day pack containing a picnic lunch and water.
