About Hobbits Cottage
Hobbits Cottage offers comfortable self-catering accommodation in a charming eco-cottage situated in White River. The cottage is part of a larger farm building on an 8-hectare property of natural bush. The property is north facing with a view across the valley towards Uplands Preparatory School and the well-known White River landmark of Legogote.
The cottage was built as part of an eco-home design project, and on completion this home won awards for its ‘green’ design and structural features. The exterior walls are ‘rammed earth’ in an attractive sandstone hue. The walls were hand crafted using a mix of natural earth sourced locally, with a small percentage of lime mixed in for binding.
