Boplaas Cottages

Boplaas is located in an unspoilt and protected area, the surrounding nature is untamed and offers local wildlife, scenery and landscapes that provide ideal photographic opportunities.

This Cottage was home to a certain Johannes, described as a shy person of few words hence the name "Vaal Johannes". Restoration to this cottage was completed at the end of 2014. We strived to maintain as much of the original, including retaining some of the "graffiti" scratched out on the walls in the sitting room area. "Vaal Johannes" is popular with honeymoon couples. Accommodation includes a small Sitting Room, Double Bedroom with beautiful views of the mountain. The Kitchen has a small table and 2 chairs, a Dover stove, single burner gas stove, fridge and sink. The Bathroom is accessed from outside and has a shower, toilet and washbasin. There is a Braai area with table and chairs facing the southern berg and a Splash pool. A braai grid, potjie pot and utensils are provided.

This cottage is named after the previous owner Hannes Mostert who farmed Boplaas with his brother Piet. "Oom Hannes" accommodates 6 people in 3 small bedrooms. An attempt has been made to retain much of its rustic charm. The original steps, beams, reed ceilings and hearth with wood-burning Dover stove remain original. The original cottage had no bathroom so this has been added as an outside addition. The main bedroom has an "en-suite" with a toilet and wash-basin. Accommodation includes a comfortable Lounge Area with a table for 6. The Main bedroom has views of the southern berg and a toilet en suite. Bedroom 2 has a double bed with north facing views down a tree-lined path. Bedroom 3 is furnished with 2 single beds with the window north facing. The Kitchen is furnished with a Dover stove, 2 burner gas stove, fridge and sink. The Bathroom leads off the front veranda and has a shower, toilet and washbasin. The Braai area is shaded by large peppercorn trees and has plenty of seating. A braai grid, potjie pot and utensils are provided. The Splash pool is perfect for cooling off on a hot day.
