About Malachite Manor
Nestled in the Southern
Drakensberg, part of the beautiful uKhahlamba World Heritage Site, you’ll find the
small piece of paradise that is Malachite Manor. Its close proximity to the
famous Sani Pass makes it ideal for those wishing to explore the Underberg
region, or just simply to escape the madness of the city.
The gentle hillside setting
features a small picturesque dam and mature plane trees, oaks and maples
surround the manor house. Six spacious
rooms are tastefully decorated, with warm, hand-crafted wood, crisp percale
linen, Dstv, WiFi, bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities, patio or balcony.
Delicious breakfasts are enjoyed
in the Orchid dining room or al fresco in the courtyard in warmer weather.
Malachite prides itself on flavoursome dinners with an Austrian flair or a
taste of exotic Thai. Enjoy snacks and
sundowners at the handcrafted wooden bar, or a nightcap around the unique
fireplace.
The area is an outdoor
adventurist’s playground, from mountain biking to golfing, tubing, kayaking, horse
riding, hiking and fly-fishing. An exhilarating drive up Sani Pass to the
highest pub in Africa is a highlight.

The warm wood floors, beautiful Pin Oak, Cypress and Kiaat bar, headboards…all have been lovingly hand crafted by Michael. Sipping a welcome cappuccino next to the double volume windows and unique fireplace, I only wish I’d stayed for dinner…they offer one of only a few restaurants in the area."
