About Honey Pot Bed & Breakfast
Honey Pot Bed and Breakfast, with tranquil garden setting, is owner-run and managed, offering accommodation that is service-driven and provides a friendly base for an idyllic holiday or productive business trip.
Honey Pot Cottage was originally built in 1915 as one of the Farm Manager cottages when this area was a Mango and Avocado plantation and a dairy farm. It is possible that bee hives were kept on the farm hence the name.
In the 1920’s an addition was added to the cottage to house a horse or Ox wagon. This is now our dining room.
Rooms 3, 4, 5 were built in the 1950’s and at some time around this period the front entrance in Oyster Crescent was closed up and re-opened in Hilken Drive, hence the property having 2 addresses, 11 Hilken Drive and originally 18 Oyster Crescent.
The natural gardens has one of the original Mango trees, estimates say that this tree is over 100 years old. It still bears fruit, but the Mangoes are now small and stringy.
We also have 2 Avocado trees, also very old which still bear wonderful butter avocados, the record being 285 in 2016.
