Double Cottage
The Double Cottages offer a charming blend of rustic elegance and modern comfort. The exterior features traditional corrugated iron cladding, while the interior is adorned with warm wood paneling, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that transports you back in time. Despite the vintage-inspired design, these cottages are equipped with modern amenities such as heated towel rails, overhead fans, airconditioners and room panel heaters to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. A private verandah extends from each cottage, offering a tranquil space to unwind and soak in the surrounding natural beauty.
For added flexibility, beds can be arranged as extra-length three-quarter or king-size upon request. Please note, access to the cottages is via a fairly steep pathway leading to the main lodge facilities, adding an element of adventure to your stay. Should you require an easier access, please reserve the Kiplings Cottage for your stay where all mobility adaptations have been addressed.

Nestled in a secluded location with breathtaking views of Spioenkop, the villa features a private pool and an entertainment area, ideal for relaxing and unwinding. The open-plan lounge and kitchen create a spacious, welcoming atmosphere, while two elegantly designed en-suite bedrooms ensure comfort and privacy. Churchill's Cottage is the perfect getaway for couples on honeymoon, two couples traveling together, or families with teenagers. Please note, the cottage is not suitable for children under 8 years old.
Burchells Cottage
Burchell's Cottage offers an exceptional retreat, perched on a ridge, with stunning panoramic views of the Spioenkop Reserve. This self-contained luxury cottage is inspired by the adventurous spirit of the naturalist and explorer after whom it is named. Designed for families, it features two spacious en-suite bedrooms, comfortably accommodating 2 adults and up to 4 children. However, it can also be the ideal romantic getaway for couples wanting space & luxury. The cottage boasts a cozy lounge, a sun-drenched private pool & deck perfect for outdoor relaxation, and a fireplace for chilly, winter evenings. With its blend of stylish comfort and attention to detail, Burchell’s Cottage provides an unforgettable escape into the mountains.
Kiplings Family Cottage
Kipling's Cottage offers a charming and spacious family-friendly retreat, designed with comfort and convenience in mind. The master bedroom features a practical en-suite bathroom, with bath and shower together with folding glass doors that open onto a peaceful verandah. The children's bedroom is a playful haven, with bunk beds and two single beds, comfortably sleeping up to four children. A chest full of toys and a cabinet brimming with books add to the fun, while the room opens onto the same verandah and a dedicated play area with a shaded sandpit.
The children's en-suite bathroom is designed to be wheelchair-friendly for easy access. The cottage's lounge area also includes a fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, and a kitchenette for your convenience. Kipling's Cottage is the perfect blend of comfort, style, and family-friendly amenities.

Three Tree Hill Dining
• Breakfast: Start your day with a choice of Continental and Full English breakfast, ordered the night before to ensure we cater to your preferences.
• Lunches: Enjoy light, fresh lunches featuring homemade bread, artisan cheeses, homemade chutneys, and locally sourced charcuterie. Perfect for a relaxing, midday break.
• Dinners: Our evening meals are served as a set, 3-course farm-style dinner, thoughtfully prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients—many of which are grown on-site. Please note, dinner is served with one choice per course, which will be displayed during afternoon tea. If the set menu does not appeal to you, simply let us know in advance, and we will prepare an alternative.
We offer full catering for special diets, including vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegetarian, provided we receive prior notification.
Family-Friendly Dining: Children are welcome to enjoy a simplified, wholesome menu and are encouraged to dine earlier in the evening to ensure a peaceful experience for the adults.
We enjoy hosting communal dinners, where convivial chatter is encouraged between travellers. However, should you prefer to dine all meals on your own, please arrange this with the service staff. For a truly unique dining experience, inquire about dining in the underground Wine Cellar—a perfect setting for intimate gatherings.
Valley Bakery - 60km from Lodge in Champagne Valley
Valley Bakery, Coffee Shop and Art Gallery is situated on the R600 which leads to the Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg.
Filled to the brim with tasty treats, fresh pastries, cakes and tarts and specialty bakes such as croissants and lemon merinque pie, the Valley Bakery is a well known landmark in the Drakensberg.
It's a welcome respite if you've been travelling - sit down in the coffee shop and enjoy one of their sandwiches served with their fresh-out-the-oven baked bread and a good cup of coffee. Drakensberg Brewery - 60km from Lodge in Champagne Valley
Drakensberg Brewery is a Craft Brewery in the heart of the Drakensberg, situated on the R600 which leads to the Champagne Valley in the Central Drakensberg. The brewery is a 600L batch brewhouse and fermenters intended to service the local community and visitors to our picturesque valley. The beer is made from malted barley, hops, yeast and fresh spring water. The brewery produces its beer in 30L kegs or 440ml bottles.
