About The Cavern Resort & Spa
The Cavern Resort & Spa is nestled in the mountains of the Northern Drakensberg Nature Reserve, KwaZulu-Natal. It is a valley of captivating beauty with some of the most magnificent hiking and trekking in the region. Daily there are guided morning hikes and horse rides and the Forest Retreat Spa is the ideal spot to unwind and be restored.
The Cavern is where families bond, friendships are formed and memories are made. It’s a tucked away romantic escape for couples, a retreat for quiet and solitude, and a child-friendly resort with fun activities. The resort has standard and superior rooms set in landscaped gardens where a mix of vibrant indigenous plants attract countless birds that fill your days with birdsong and the evenings with the wild sounds of crickets, frogs and other friendly creatures.

Standard Double/Twin Room
Our Standard accommodation is set in lush garden landscapes with a vibrant mix of indigenous planting, filled with the sounds of birdlife. Each room has king or twin beds, bathroom en suite, tea and coffee making facilities and a patio to soak up the sun and enjoy the mountain splendour. There are no TV’s in the standard accommodation.
Superior Room
Our finely appointed Superior accommodation is set overlooking the magnificent indigenous Fern Forest with private patios to enjoy the views, listen to the sounds of forest streams and relax in our mountain wilderness. Our superior rooms have king-size or twin beds, are spacious and have a TV and bar fridge.
Superior Suite
With superior finishings and fittings our superior suites are nests of tranquillity, each with its own private fireplace, patio, TV and bar fridge. The superior suites have king-size double beds, are set overlooking the magnificent indigenous Fern Forest with private patios to soak up the sun, listen to the sounds of forest streams and relax in our mountain wilderness.
Standard Interleading Room
This standard family interleading units consists of two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has 2 single beds/ bunk-beds for children. The rooms are comfortable with en suite bath and shower, tea and coffee making facilities and outside patio. These units are set in lush garden landscapes with a vibrant mix of indigenous planting, filled with the sounds of birdlife. Some units do not have mountain views. Minimum rates apply in peak season. Please note that this room should be occupied by at least 3 pax.
Standard Three Bedded Family Room
This standard family room sleeps 3 and consists of a king size double bed and a single bed in the same room. The room is spacious and comfortable, with en suite bath and shower, tea and coffee making facilities and a patio. We can fit a cot or shorti bed in these rooms for young children. These rooms are set in lush garden landscapes with a vibrant mix of indigenous plants, which attract a myriad of birdlife.
Superior Family Suite
The superior family suites consists of two bedrooms and a lounge. The master bedroom has a king size double bed and the second bedroom has a set of bunk beds / twin beds for children. The units are comfortable with en suite bath and shower, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, bar fridge, fireplace and outside patio. Minimum rates apply in peak season.
