Kalahari Wilderness Drift

Northern Cape, South Africa

About Kalahari Wilderness Drift

African Waters' Kalahari Wilderness Drift focus on a pristine 35km section of the lower Orange River, around the Onseepkans Gorge. This stretch of river is bordered by pristine Kalahari desert wilderness.

The focus of these trips is targeting the elusive largemouth yellowfish on fly. All fishing is done off our customized drift boats, fishing two anglers and one guide per boat. Although largies are the primary target species, the smallmouth yellow fishing is also excellent, and big fish are often taken on streamers while fishing for largies.

All fly fishing is strictly catch and release, with single de-barbed hooks. Numbers are limited to 4 rods per expedition.

The expeditions are based on a self-sufficient multi-night wilderness camping setup. They are aimed at adventurous anglers, with an appetite for a pristine wilderness experiences and a passion for being outdoors.
