About DeKotzenhof Guest House

Dekotzenhof and the Wakkerstroom Villager are conveniently situated in the heart of Wakkerstroom, with history and nature, and the convenience of village life on your doorstep.

The Guest House provides luxurious comfortable accommodation featuring five en-suite rooms, four rooms inside the beautifully renovated 1906 house, and one separate romantic self-catering suite with a private entrance, kitchenette, boma and veranda, for honeymooners or a more private stay.

The restaurant and boma on-site caters for 20, so is ideally set up for small groups. A full brunch, breakfast and lunch packs, and a set 3 course dinner are provided on request. Mark's meals receive high accolades, and are highly recommended.

DeKotzenhof has a large off-street parking area suitable for bus, trailer, overland vehicle etc. We provide free wi-fi and have installed backup water tanks, for the event of municipal water failure. It is owner run by Mark & Karen, who have a reputation for providing their warm hospitality for more than ten years.

The Wakkerstroom Villager
The Wakkerstroom Villager (one of our 5 en-suite rooms) is a Romantic standalone self-catering suite for two, ideal for honeymooners or those wanting a more private stay. It has a queen sized bed, dressed in percale linen, down duvet, electric blanket and is draped with a mosquito net. As well as the en-suite bathroom, a claw foot Victorian bath nestles in the window, with mountain view. This suite has all the comforts and extra little touches that you could want, including a wood-burning fireplace for a romantic evening at the fireside, a private semi-enclosed patio, and its own boma. The kitchenette is small, but well-fitted with 2-plate gas stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, bar fridge, and even a coffee pod machine! As with all rooms, there's an antique wardrobe, seating area, good heating. fans, tea/coffee tray with scrumptious homemade rusks, and even a bookshelf and picnic basket. This encourages guests to wander to the cheese shop, bakery and vegetable shop, and DeKotzenhof's on-site deli, to stock up for a day outdoors.
Family Suite (Room 2 & 3)
Room 2 & 3 make up our family suite suitable for children four and upwards (unless all 5 rooms are booked by the group, in which case babies are welcome). Room 2 has a double bed and Room 3 has twin beds with garden and birdbath view. Both rooms are spacious en-suite rooms with all the comforts and extra touches you could want, including antique wardrobe, a desk/dressing table, seating, heating and electric blankets and fans. Both also have tea/coffee tray with scrumptious homemade rusks, and even a bookshelf and picnic basket, which encourages guests to wander to the cheese shop, bakery and vegetable shop, and DeKotzenhof's on-site deli, to stock up for a day outdoors. These two rooms are at the end of a passage and have an extra door, meaning that children have access to their parents room.
Standard Twin (Room 1)
Room 1 is our standard twin room. Although our smallest room, it has all the comforts and extra little touches that one needs. This room is ideal for an overnight or for a single traveller that needs great workspace. It has an antique cupboard, a very large desk/dressing table, chair, heating and electric blankets, fan, a tea/coffee tray with scrumptious homemade rusks, and even a bookshelf and picnic basket. This encourages guests to wander to the cheese shop, bakery and vegetable shop, and DeKotzenhof's on-site deli, to stock up for a day outdoors.
Classic Twin (Room 4)
A lovely twin room which receives afternoon sun and has a garden view. It has a very large bathroom en-suite with a ramp into the shower, suitable elderly Guests or for a disabled person who has assistance. It has all the comforts and extra little touches that you need, including an antique cupboard, a desk/dressing table, seating, heating and electric blankets, fan, a tea/coffee tray with scrumptious homemade rusks, and even a bookshelf and picnic basket. This encourages guests to wander to the cheese shop, bakery and vegetable shop, and DeKotzenhof's on-site deli, to stock up for a day outdoors.
