Sibaya Lake Lodge

Maputaland Marine Protected Area, South Africa

About Sibaya Lake Lodge

Lake Sibaya Lodge is an upmarket lodge with 16 chalets situated on the northern shores of the lake. Lake Sibaya is the largest freshwater lake in South Africa and although its clear blue waters look cool and appealing, this is not a good place for swimming as there are a large number of crocodiles and hippos. Wildlife is abundant and you will find many smaller creatures like water mongooses, reedbuck, samango monkeys, red squirrels and endangered blue duikers, and for bird-watchers Lake Sibaya is paradise as there are 279 species of birds to be found, some of them quite rare.
