About Barberton Manor Guest House

Barberton Manor Guest House, built in 1927 after a Sir Herbert Baker design, is a National Heritage and still in its original state, but offers modern day comfort.

The spacious bed and breakfast in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is situated close to Swaziland (Mbabane) (40 km), 60 km from the Kruger Park\Kruger National Park and 45 km from Nelspruit (Kruger Mpumalanga Int. Airport).

Barberton, a small town nestled in the Makwonja Mountains has a rich history: in the 1880's gold was found at Eureka City, which turned this small settlement into a booming town. It also is a place of geological interest: 3.5 billion years ago, the earliest lifeforms on earth lived in this area. Their fossils can be found in the rocks around Barberton and attract many scientists every year.

Our town, being the undiscovered gem of the Lowveld - ‘the Wild Frontier’ - offers many attractions: hiking trails, scenic drives, visiting a gold mine, the Heritage Walk (starting at the museum) to name a few.
