About Sewula Gorge Lodge
Sewula Gorge Lodge is one of those places in Africa that one never forgets and remembers with delight. Built in a gorge, along a river and at the base of a waterfall it is the ultimate getaway. This four star, fully serviced, self-catering lodge may only be used exclusively by one guest party at any time. It is on a commercial beef and game farm between the towns of Estcourt and Mooi River in KwaZulu Natal and within the listed Rensburg Koppie Natural Heritage Site.
The Rensburg Koppie National Monument, a tribute to a battle from the Zulu-Boer War in 1838, trenches from the Anglo-Boer War in 1899, the 160 year old wagon road and a fortified Iron Age Man Site dated from the 14th Century, form a circle of history around the Sewula Gorge Lodge.
The lodge offers four en-suite cottages with sleeping lofts for children and young people, provide beds for 8 adults and 10 children. Three of the cottages are twin-bedded with showers and one is a double with a bath and shower. These are all fed by a main central building, which has the kitchen, lounge and dining room in it.
Facilities available in the camp include an airstrip nearby, firewood, hairdryers in the rooms, alarm clocks available on request and international adapter plugs available on request.
Activities include walking trails, swimming in the cool rock pools, fishing, historic sites on site, mountain bike trails, bird watching and botanist haven for tree and flower enthusiasts.
