About Gateside Guest House

We are situated in a quiet cul-de-sac with stunning views, in the heart of tranquil Hilton village, a northern suburb of Pietermaritzburg.We are easily accessed from the N3 highway, 30 mins' drive from Oribi airport(Pmb) & an hour & a half from King Shaka airport in Durban.Ideally located for both business or as a visitor to the Midlands Meander's arts & crafts or one of the superb private schools of Hilton College, St Annes, Cowan House, Grace & Etham Colleges.The Hilton Life Hospital is 2kms from us as are our local shops & restaurants in the heart of the village.

We sleep a maximum of 30 people: 1 x 4-sleeper self-catering unit, 2 x 5-sleeper self-catered units & our 6-sleeper(3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms).All come with braai facilities.

Main guesthouse has a standard double room(queen bed), 2 twin/double rooms & a 4-sleeper unit.

Guests enjoy the view from the glassed-in breakfast room,there is a comfortable lounge with cosy log fireplace and an area to work and the deck with braai facilities.Spacious garden with trampoline & large pool.We offer 5 units that are pet-friendly.Laundry service available and wifi fibre access.All credit cards accepted.Fully generator-operated for any powercuts.

5-Sleeper Self-catering Loft Unit
Open plan loft unit with great balcony views. Comes with either a king or twin beds & 3 further single beds.Lounge/dining/kitchenette area & a bathroom with Victorian bath & separate shower.
King/Twin Self-cat Unit, Ground Floor
A spacious ground floor unit for 2, with twin beds or if preferred, 1 King bed. Open plan with dining/kitchenette/lounge area & log fireplace. En-suite bathroom with shower only. Connecting door through to Double Room which can be booked at an extra fee.
King/Twin room, Ground Floor
A "room with a view" & has either kingbed or twin single beds. Bathroom en-suite being shower & separate toilet. An outdoor area to enjoy the views or a BBQ. Connecting door through to Double/Twin Self-catering Unit which can be booked at an extra fee.
4 Sleeper room-Full bathroom,Upper Floor
A light & airy bedroom facing the view with King/twin beds & a single bed in the annexe of the bedroom. There is a single-size daybed for a 4th person.Semi self-catering nook. Bathroom has Victorian bath, shower & twin basins, underfloor heating.
King/Twin Room & kitchenette,Upper floor
Room facing the view with twin single beds which convert into a King bed if needed & lovely, spacious bathroom. Relax in the Victorian bath looking out at the hills and dam. Also comes with shower, twin basins & underfloor heating.
Double Room,full Bathroom,Upper Floor
Little double room under the eaves & bathroom with Victorian bath & shower, underfloor heating.Also has barfridge, microwave, toaster, crockery & cutlery. Room has Dstv, teatray, hairdryer & wallfan, ironing facility.
