About Rietfontein Ostrich Palace
Welcome to Rietfontein Ostrich Palace, a working ostrich farm situated between Calitzdorp
(Port Capital of the World) - & Oudtshoorn (Ostrich Capital of the world) on the Route 62
(longest wine route in South Africa).
It is the eldest working ostrich farm in the Cape Colony, established by the
Potgieter family in 1897 and boasts with one of the most intriguing ostrich palaces, dating back to the early 1900's
(the feather boom era).
Our accommodation comprises of 4 Units (7 rooms) which are available in beautifully restored cottages, tastefully furnished, all with en-suite bathrooms.
We also offer an Ala Carte Restaurant on the premises serving breakfast, lunch & dinner daily.
Activities on the farm included an ostrich tour, walking and bird watching. We also have a swimming pool.
