Hluhluwe River Lodge is an intimate forest lodge situated far from the hustle and bustle, offering a tranquil environment and relaxed atmosphere.
The lodge is ideal for self-drive visitors looking for a fully catered restaurant facility and spacious living area. The main lodge has a lounge, expansive terrace and Wifi facilities.
Ideal for a family getaway or a couples retreat, our attention to detail and personal touch will make your stay memorable. Upon request, we offer guided walks into False Bay Park which includes forest and lake shore experiences where the focus is on the little details and magic of our greatest asset, the Sand Forest.
Great forest trails for walking or mountain biking, healthy food, log fires, great wine list and good company.

Standard Chalets
The eight standard chalets are built on stilts with thatch roofs and wooden decks. Each chalet is accessed via a wooden ramp leading onto a covered wooden deck appointed with comfortable chairs and a coffee table. Double glass doors and a glass-front
Family chalets
There are two family chalets specially designed for a young family with two small children. These open plan thatched chalets have a double bed arrangement for parents and a dormer set off to one side with two single children's beds.
Honeymoon Chalets
There are two luxuriously appointed honeymoon chalets tucked away in a forested ravine just a short walk from the main lodge.
Mkhulu's House
Mkhulu's House has 2 en-suite bedrooms (main room includes a set of bunk beds for two small children), kitchen, dining room, lounge and outdoor entertainment area with a spectacular view. It also has it's own private swimming pool.
Mkhulu's Self-Catering House
Mkhulu's house is ideal for a family of four or two adult couples. The house consist off 2 en-suite bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, dining room, lounge and an outdoor entertainment area with a spectacular view. It also has it's own private swimming pool. The house is equipped for a self
catering holiday however meals may be booked at the lodge restaurant provided the lodge is
occupied by guests.
Mkhulu’s House is a 5 minute walk from the main lodge and we recommend
that you bring a torch if you intend booking meals as the path and road has no lighting.
The lodge terrace has a fire pit which is lit every night and dinner is served most often on the
outside deck or in the dining room depending on weather.
Dinner is served from 7.00 pm and breakfast from 7.00 am till 10.00 am.
Important: If guests intend eating at the lodge rather than self catering they must book a day in
advance or when making their reservation so that the lodge restaurant can cater for you.
Planters Self-catering Camp
Planters Bush Camp is made up of 3 separate en suite air-conditioned rooms accommodating 6
adults/children.
The main bedroom can accommodate 2 children on stretchers with a surcharge of @ R100.00
per child.
The remaining 2 bedrooms can be interleading or separate.
The camp has a central kitchen/ dining area, boma braai area with weber and swimming pool.
