This 75-square metre Eco Container House is a double-storey cottage built entirely from four recycled shipping containers and is part of the environmentally aware self-sustained lifestyle at the Sanctuary. It’s perfect for a couple or a single person, as the open-plan bedroom on the upper floor has its own deck and stunningly expansive views across the river valley, and the Swartvlei estuary to the west. The bedroom is tastefully decorated with an eclectic collection of funky retro-feel furniture; it has a double bed, 2 sofas, a coffee table area, and can be kept warm and cosy with the ceramic firepot. Downstairs is the well-equipped, contemporary style open-plan kitchen, with an adjacent lounge and dining area that has a TV and a DVD player. There is a private bathroom with a shower. Greywater is recycled and there is a self-composting eco-toilet.
