Calling the upmarket yet quirky suburb of Durban, Glenwood, home, Mackaya Bella is a lovely and friendly guest house offering professional service, comfortable rooms and good food. New owners Mike and Nicki have worked in hospitality for years, so you can expect a warm welcome and a home away from home. The recently revamped six rooms in the main guest house each has its own character and colour scheme, with all the creature comforts such as air-conditioning, DStv, bar fridge , fluffy towels and tea and coffee facilities. The Family Room is located a few metres away from the main house, and is complete with a lounge and kitchen – the ideal family retreat. It also has its own veranda overlooking the sparkling pool. There are also two self-catering rooms designed for singles. Solar-assisted geysers, energy-saving devices, a recycling project and other features help to make the guest house green-friendly, with a strong ethos geared towards minimising the footprint on the environment. Take a wander around the peaceful, indigenous garden, or enjoy a dip in the pool on warmer days. A scrumptious breakfast is served every morning in the main dining-room. There’s a delicious buffet spread and you can order a hot meal made to order. The name “Mackaya Bella” comes from the indigenous shrub which grows near the main entrance and is known for flourishing in quiet environments – and this is just what you’ll find here: a little oasis tucked away from the busy world.
