Morukuru Ocean House

The 4 suites at Morukuru Ocean House with large glass doors overlooking the Indian Ocean Ocean offer king or twin beds and all bedrooms have their own en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and double vanity units.

Besides the 4 bedrooms en-suite Morukuru Ocean House also offers a study annex children's bedroom that can accommodate up to 4 children under 16. This room does not offer a bathroom however, therefor children accommodated here would have to use the bathroom in their parents bedroom. The study also offers a large flatscreen television and playstation, as well as a selection of boardgames and other items to keep children entertained.

Often cited as one of the most exquisite coastal reserves in South Africa, De Hoop offers 51km of pristine white beaches and dunes lapped by a warm Indian ocean, as well as limestone cliffs, rock pools, wetlands, coastal fynbos and home to more than 260 species of birds. Morukuru Ocean House also offers a bird’s eye view of the continent’s greatest whale nursery, as Southern Right whales migrate to the shallow coastal basins off the Overberg Coast for the calving and nursing season from mid-July to November. In short, Morukuru Ocean House offers access to some of the continent’s most undiscovered gems, able to satisfy visitors’ craving exclusivity, yet providing some of the most productive wildlife interactions in Southern Africa

Morukuru Ocean House includes all the same features as those you will find at our exclusive-use houses situated within the Madikwe Game Reserve, amazing views, top service, a wide range of activities and 100% privacy.

Morukuru Ocean House is booked under the famous Morukuru Freedom Concept: no schedules! A sparkling pool, delicious food, lovely drinks served by your personal butler, your own private kitchen with chef, open plan lounge areas, dining areas, garden with amazing views, romantic fireplaces & lots more. Ocean House runs on sustainable green energy and conventional electricity use is limited.

Every Morukuru Ocean House meal feels like a special occasion. On moonlit nights, you may find your table set up under a starlit sky overlooking the Ocean.

Naturally you enjoy 100% access to your kitchen – it’s your home after all – but cooking is certainly not on the cards, unless you’re a committed foodie, or would like a personal cooking demonstration. Your personal Chef will converse with you before each meal in order to prepare to your taste and interest and served how, where and when you want. No dietary requirement is too onerous.

The house wine selection is excellent but winelovers will find heaven in the Morukuru Ocean House cellars: stocked with some of South Africa’s finest wines, many of the bottles here are collector’s items purchased at the celebrated Nederburg Auction or at the Cape Winemakers Guild, and simply unavailable to purchase anywhere else but here.

Launched in February 2023, Bites Beach Café in the historical white cottage at Koppie Alleen down at the beach in front of Morukuru Beach Lodge is open to all guests (including day visitors in De Hoop Nature Reserve) between 10AM and 4PM daily. The kitchen closes at 3PM.

Guests can enjoy drinks and casual beach style food including pizzas, salads, burgers and fish. In the evenings Bites Beach Café is used exclusively for Morukuru Family De Hoop guests with special African themed dinner nights for guests at Morukuru Beach Lodge or Morukuru Ocean House.
