About Houtkapperspoort Mountain Retreat
Houtkapperspoort is the actual name of the area from the Cape Town settlement times, it was from this area that woodcutters (Houtkapper in Dutch) felled and transported trees to the Table Bay harbor for use in the Cape Settlement. The resort is laid out so that you feel that you are not surrounded by people, and the Sand Stone clad cottages surrounded by hedging and indigenous shrubbery is reminiscent of a small county dweller community. The trees form a backdrop of green lushness, with the surrounding mountains adding the drama. The entire resort is a child’s ultimate playground, and is sure to be a haven of tranquility and inspiration for the adults.

Though you will feel that you are away from the world as it were, there are a number of things to do and see just a short distance from the resort:
• Major shopping centers an eight-minute drive away
• Superb restaurants – within a five-minute drive to Hout Bay or Constantia
• The Hout Bay beach and harbor, as well as the famous Constantia wine farms – within a five-minute drive.
• Hout Bay Sunday Market, World of Birds, Boat trips to Seal Island and Noordhoek village are also a five-minute drive away.
