Springfield Farm B 'n B

Cape South Coast, South Africa

About Springfield Farm B 'n B

Springfield Estate rests deep within the Agulhas National Park. It is one of the southernmost pieces of land on the tip of South Africa. The surrounding area, Cape Agulhas – known as the strand veld (literally ‘sandy land’ in Afrikaans, due to its sandy soils) is rich with never-ending coastlines, mountains covered with Fynbos and Southern African wildlife. The original farmhouse predates in 1889 when the farm was formerly registered. It was the home of Lord de Saumarez, the English lord memorialised in Dalene Matthee’s novel Driftwood. A collection of three quaint old renovated cottages which can be rented individually circle the English baronial hall. The farm Springfield has been declared a Provincial Heritage Site.
