About Ugebezi Explorer Camp
Ugebezi Explorer Camp is located in the uncrowded, easily-accessible big 5 Blue Canyon Nature Conservancy. The rustic camp sits on 10 000 ha of savanna, acacia and mixed vegetation. The significant Drakensberg mountains provide the perfect silhouetted backdrop to the reserve, while the camp itself sits under a canopy of white acacia trees.
This discreet tented camp offers an immersive, hands-on safari experience where the focus is on conservation projects, walking safaris and getting to know the Kruger wilderness.
The ambience of Ugebezi is that of a typical explorer camp, complete with all the classic finishing touches. There are only 4 tents in total (sleeping 8), which means a personalised and attentive experience. It is to be noted, that Ugebezi offers and immersive safari experience where the focus is on the raw wilderness and conservation; and not luxury dwellings.
Joe Pietersen is one of the founders of Ugebezi Explorer Camp, and is as passionate about conservation as he is about his professional rugby career.
Joe owns Nkombe Rhino, an NPO that has the privilege to sponsor, support and motivate the members of an APU (Anti-Poaching Unit). Most of the conservation projects underway are done through Ugebezi.
