About Amakhosi Safari Lodge
AmaKhosi Safari Lodge “Place of the Kings” in Zulu, is ideally situated 4 hours from Durban in KwaZulu Natal and 5,5 hours from Johannesburg. On the banks of Zululand’s Mkuze River in the Amakhosi Private Game Reserve, Amakhosi Safai Lodge is home to the Big Five including cheetah, 15 species of antelope, crocodile, hippo and over 400 bird species.
The luxury river suites rest on the riverbank overlooking magnificent views of Mkuze River's rushing waters and tranquil landscape. High thatched ceilings and glass walls are complimented by a large bathroom with unique bath made for two, and al fresco shower. In addition, two honeymoon suites offer the ultimate in privacy and tranquillity for newly weds, with private plunge pools and hammocks. This, combined with a choice of splendid pampering massage treatments in the Amakhosi River Spa, makes Amakhosi the perfect place for romance.
Activities include game drives, birding and seasonal frogging safaris under the expert guidance of experienced rangers. Bush walks are another option to interact with nature, especially in the cooler months. The lodge invites relaxed living at the pool, outdoor lounge, or on the deck overlooking the river. Outstanding cuisine is served. On some evenings, dinners in the traditional cattle kraal around the campfire under the star-studded African sky are memorable. "This was hands down the best safari experience we have ever had! From the time we arrived to the time we left we were treated like royalty. The game viewing was amazing - we had lion running alongside the truck, were surrounded by 20 plus elephants, watched two male cheetahs eat their dinner, buffalo and giraffe so close you didn''t need a zoom on your camera, amazing bird life, etc., etc. This made all the more special by the ranger and tracker who were skilled and knowledgeable. Food and lodging was top class with dinner and zulu dancing in a boma on our final night that was very special. Staff very friendly and willing to do anything to enhance our stay.. A WOW five star experience which we would highly recommend"
