About Chameleon Backpackers Guesthouse
Chameleon Backpackers was established in 1995, and was one of the first backpacker hostels in Namibia. As our name suggests, we have been adapting to the ever-changing needs of our travelers to offer the best possible accommodation in Windhoek.
Run by a dynamic team, Chameleon Backpackers is a haven for young Namibians eager to enter the tourism industry and welcome you in Namibian style. Catering to travellers across all age groups, from solo backpackers, volunteers, to families and couples, all looking for a home away from home while in Windhoek.
Chameleon offers Windhoek’s best backpacker lodge experience sustainably, using solar power, water and waste recycling systems, and putting a significant focus on uplifting Namibians, including our staff and our local communities.
Chameleon Safaris operates from the lodge and offers scheduled safaris to the main tourist attractions in Namibia. There is also a dedicated travel agency, Chameleon Holidays, on-site to assist in planning every feature of your self drive holiday through Namibia and neighbouring countries.

Budget Twin rooms have 2 single beds and a shared bathroom. Rooms have a ceiling fan & electronic safe.
Standard Twin Room with AirCon
En-suite room with 2 twin beds. Room is equipped with electronic safe, and air-conditioning/heating.
Standard Double Room with Aircon
Standard double room with en-suite bathroom. Rooms have air-conditioning/heating and electronic safe.
Standard Double Rooms with AirCon
Standard double room consists of 1 double bed with en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning/heating. Room also has a ceiling fan and electronic safe.
Standard Triple Room with AirCon
Standard triple rooms have 3 single beds and en-suite bathroom. Rooms have air-con/heating, ceiling fans & electronic safes.
Luxury Twin Room
Luxury twin room with en-suite bathroom and air-conditioning/heating. Room has tea & coffee station as well as electronic safe. Room is upstairs so not suited for those with limited mobility.
Luxury Family Room
Family room consists of 1 double bed + 1 set of bunk beds. Room has en-suite bathroom, tea & coffee station as well as electronic safe.
Honeymoon Suite
Our Honeymoon suite, the Elephant room, has a queen bed with en-suite bathroom as well as air-conditioning/heating. Room also has couch, and private balcony with outdoor shower, tea & coffee station as well as electronic safe.
Executive Apartment
Deluxe private apartment on the top floor in the city centre, overlooing the iconic Christuskirche, Indendence Museum, Reserve Bank of Namibia and located next to the Hilton Hotel. Everything you need is within walking distance.
