About Shankara Rest Camp
Shankara Rest Camp offers camping and chalet accommodation on the Okavango River, about 81 km east of Rundu. The accommodations are ideal for tourists, visitors and business travelers. The camp offers numerous activities to engage guests in an exciting stay.
We offer 6 fully equipped self catering chalets & 15 camping facilities with electricity. Outdoor relaxing facilities with river view, swimming pool, BBQ areas and free parking and is perfect for nature photography, fishing and bird watching (more than 90 species of birds residing e.g. the Sharp tailed Starling and Sousa’s Shrike nearby.
We offer sunset cruises, hippo, crocodile & otter viewing and fishing trips.
We are well known for our successful fishing trips. Our guide has more than 25 year experience, knowledge of the river system and fishing methods and is well known all over the world. Tiger fish, many Briem species and catfish are the most popular amongst the anglers. Biggest fish caught and released: Tiger 8.5 kg, Nemwe 3.5kg and Catfish 14 kg.

Family Chalet
Each family house has an open plan lounge/kitchen area, two bedrooms, one bathroom (shower, bath, toilet).One room with double bed, one room with 2 single beds and 2 single beds in lounge area.
Double Chalet
The comfortable self-catering chalets contain 2 single beds with an en-suite bathroom. Fully equipped kitchenette (mini fridge, kettle, stove,cutlery, plugs, etc) Mosquito nets are also provided.
Camping Sites
Numerous campsites are available. Camp on lawn under huge shady trees.Campsites equipped with an electricity point and fireplace. Ablution blocks with showers and toilets.
