About Alte Kalkofen Lodge
Alte Kalköfen Lodge was envisage and constructed to firstly conserve fauna and flora in their natural habitat and secondly, to bring the experience of nature to mankind whilst maintaining the ecosystem of the area. Ecological Practices is implemented in managing the fragile environment with every effort being made to keep nature & man in harmony.
The lodge itself is set in a beautiful natural African garden where vast open spaces effortlessly combines with the rocky dessert area, Acacias and fascinating wildlife creating different "venues" to visit and experience on a daily basis.

The old farmhouse on the Simplon Farm has been restored to serve as the lodge reception area and restaurant. Delicious breakfasts, light lunches and home cooked evening meals are served throughout the day. The restaurant is fully licensed and open to the public and for functions. Enjoy a cup of coffee at sunrise or a sundowner at sunset and experience the absolute silence and breathtaking views from the restaurant veranda.
Alte Kalköfen Lodge offers 10, double or single, bungalows, built on the edge of the Gurib river, overlooking large Camel Thorn trees growing in the river bed. Needless to say, the spectacular surround provide inspiring and exceptional sunrise and sunset views from the comfort of your room. All units are equipped with comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms.

Double / Twin Room (B&B)
Twins are convertible into DOUBLES on request. Units have views of the dry-river-bed and have en-suite bathrooms plus romantic outdoor cold-water shower and access to the swimming pool & restaurant.
Family Room (B&B)
Two twin rooms, interlinked (Can be converted into two twin units). One room has a shower and the other room a bath. Both rooms also have outside cold-water showers.
Double / Twin Room (SC)
Twin en-suite room (Can be converted to a double on request) with indoor bathroom & shower plus an outdoor cold-water shower, sitting room, kitchen and braai facilities.
Family Room (SC)
two room unit with twins (Can be converted to doubles on request) with one bathroom with shower, bath and toilet (must share), sitting room, kitchen and braai facilities.
Camp Site
Own ablution block, solar lighting with shower, hand wash-basin, WC and outside washing troughs for dishes. No electricity. Hot water available, heated by donkey boiler. Breakfast and dinner available on request bookable 1 day before arrival.
Tour Guide room
These rooms are only for tour guides and not bookable by other clients.
