Spend a few days in a private game reserve in Kruger where intimate game drives, guided bush walks and luxury lodge indulgence are the order of the day, before jetting off to the idyllic islands of Mozambique where you’ll enjoy swimming and snorkelling in the turquoise ocean, cocktails in hammocks and some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.
On arrival at Johannesburg airport you’ll be met and transferred to the Federal Air charter lounge for your flight to Kruger. After checking into the lounge, you can repack and store excess baggage if you need to before your charter flight. A quick flight to the lodge and your safari experience begins. Your ranger will meet you at the airstrip and take you to your lodge for check in and cool refreshments before lunch.
The next three days will be spent immersed in the African bushveld. Game drives depart just before sunset and again in the morning at around 6am. Sunset drives include a stop for sundowners in a bush clearing or at a viewpoint, sometimes alongside a waterhole. You’ll disembark the vehicle while you enjoy a drink and some time to stretch your legs. As the sky darkens, you’ll continue on your game drive into the inky black bush where nocturnal animals are rising for their nightly hunt. Your ranger will drive while your tracker sits up front using a powerful spotlight to spot the glow of predator eyes.
Dinners are determined by what happens on your game drive – if you spot a pack of lion hunting or animals at a kill site, dinner will be delayed so you can experience it to the full. Before dinner you’ll have a chance to freshen in your room. Dinners are usually served in the boma or on a terrace overlooking the bushveld – the staff will make the call depending on the weather. Rangers usually join you for dinner and regale you with fantastic bush tales around the campfire which often continue late into the night.
Morning game drives depart after a quick tea and coffee at the lodge with your ranger. Morning in the bush is a time of anticipation. You might see a pack of lions ravaging a fresh kill, elephant swaying along to the waterhole for an early morning drink or a a herd of giraffe quietly munching on the tall trees, silhouetted against the lightening African sky. After your morning game drive you’ll return for a much needed breakfast. During the day you’ll have plenty of time to relax and unwind on your private terrace, in a gently swaying hammock or cooling off in a sparkling swimming pool.
After a final game drive and breakfast, you will be returned to the airstrip for your flight to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport, before a road transfer to Maputo in Mozambique and then onto White Pearl Resort in Ponta Mamoli, Mozambique.
White Pearl is nestled in a sheltered bay on Mozambique’s Lagoon Coast. You’ll stay in a luxurious suite set amongst the dunes on timber stilts, a design that allows you to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery while protecting the fragile eco-systems beneath. Feel the gentle ocean breeze on your skin as you stretch out on a soft day bed in the warm sun. Enjoy an indulgent bubble bath with magnificent views across the ocean. Take a dip in your sparkling private plunge pool and rinse off under an exhilarating outdoor shower. Visit the spa for a muscle-easing massage, or head down to the beach for some snorkelling and a picnic. Other activities available include moon and stargazing, kayaking, surfing, turtle walks (seasonal) and ocean safaris. A glamorous Ibiza-styled Beach Bar with breath-taking views of clear blue water and dazzling white sand serves rustic tapas and ice cold beverages for your convenience. Life here is good.
After a leisurely breakfast this morning, you will be transferred back to Maputo for your return flight to Johannesburg.
