Tabora

Tabora is an easy-going tree-lined town in the eponymous region of Tanzania. Built by Arabs in 1820 as a caravan depot, it was previously known as Kazeh, an infamous slave trading centre. Today it serves as a stopover town to the highlights of the Tabora Region, namely the exceptional landscapes of Ugalla National Park. For those who wish to arrive with greater ease, there's a small airport nearby with daily flights between Dar es Salaam and Kigoma. Those interested in history can visit Livingstone's Tembe or David Livingstone Museum, once the home of Livingstone himself in 1871, preserved as a national historic site. The street markets are often filled with local produce, and many small local restaurants offer typical Tanzanian restaurant dishes.
