Kitui

Kitui is a key administrative centre located roughly an hour’s drive from the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. Kitui means ‘where iron goods are made’ and the town was named this because local ironsmiths founded it centuries ago. Several exceptional national parks are located within proximity of Kitui and facilitate excellent game viewing. These include the untamed wilderness of Tsavo East National Park, and the wildlife rich South Kitui National Reserve. Visitors to Kitui can also enjoy boating and fishing on the scenic Tana River. Bird watchers will also be in their element in the area, with myriad colourful and exotic species passing through.
