About Garissa
The university town of Garissa is in eastern Kenya, on the banks of the Tana River. It is a key market town and economic hub and is home to the Garissa University, therefore it is also an educational centre. The Bour-Algi Giraffe Sanctuary shelters threatened wildlife such as gerenuk and Rothschild giraffes, while it also features other wildlife. The town is also a gateway to Kora National Park, with its granite hills and diverse bird and animal life. Rahole National Reserve is also nearby - a vast wilderness of thorny bushveld with hippos, elephant, zebras and myriad bird species.
